What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

We are a fellowship of Christ followers who stand in the long line of Christ followers from the time of Jesus.  We are a creedal congregation which means we profess our faith weekly using one of the historic confessions of faith called a “creed.”  Most often we use the Apostles’ Creed which succinctly states our basic beliefs.

“We believe in God the Father, Almighty, who is the maker of heaven and earth.

“We believe in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.”

“We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy “universal” church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.”

A Congregation of the Global Methodist Church

Beyond these basic beliefs shared in common with the vast majority of Christians since the time of Jesus,
we are a congregation of The Global Methodist Church (link to GMC beliefs: https://www.globalmethodist.org/ ).

Faith and Action

We believe that we are saved by grace through faith alone.  We cannot be saved through our works, no matter how good.  We do, however, believe that we are saved “for” good works. Actions speak louder than words.  In line with the Apostle James (2:18), true, authentic, and genuine faith is made tangible by the things we do and say.  We invite you to view one or more of our services online right now (insert link) and to join us in person this Sunday.  We also invite you to join us for one or more of our mission projects that makes our beliefs tangible.  This is always the best way to see our beliefs in action.

The Bible

As Methodist Christians, we believe in “scriptural holiness” which is a life that honors God and seeks to be aligned with the teachings and values expressed in God’s Word, the Bible.

We believe the Bible is God’s divinely inspired Word that contains all that is necessary for salvation and to lead a life of purpose, meaning and bring honor to God.

Passionate Worship

We believe that our worship is a gift to God and therefore needs to be authentic and heartfelt.  We offer 2 distinct styles of worship.  At 8:32 AM each Sunday, we worship in the fellowship hall with a small band and less liturgy.  We call this service “contemporary” which to us means modern music and a relaxed feel. At 10:55AM each Sunday, we worship in the sanctuary where we are led by organ and choir as we sing hymns mainly from a hymn book.  We call this service “traditional” which to us means a style of worship that is a little more formal and would be easily recognized by our parents and grandparents.  Both services are warm and friendly.  While people tend to dress more “business casual” at the 10:55 AM service, there is no dress code or expectation for certain attire at either service.  We will always be glad to see you.  Regardless of which service you attend, messages are Bible-based and relevant for today.  In both the message and the music, we strive to create an uplifting atmosphere where you can be inspired and experience the presence of God.

We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but do not consider ourselves “charismatic” and “tongues” are not part of our regular worship.

Fruits of the Spirit

We believe in the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control) found in Galatians 5:22-23 and seek to equip all who worship with us to cultivate these fruits in their daily lives.
